Recipe:
Ingredient Notes:
- Apples. Any flavorful, sweet-and-sour apple will do. Sometimes I make compote with the peels left over from making strudel or apple pie. The peel has the most flavor, so using it is beneficial.
- Cranberries. You can use fresh or frozen cranberries. You can use frozen cranberries without defrosting them.
You can also use black or red currants, lingonberries, or sour cherries instead of cranberries, and it will still be delicious. - Ginger. You need fresh ginger root; dry ground ginger will not taste the same.
- Sugar. Regular white sugar works perfectly. As an option, you can partially replace it with honey. If you do, add it directly into the mugs.
Let’s start cooking!
Core the apples and cut them into pieces. Finely chop the ginger.
Combine all the ingredients in a pot. Add cold water and bring to a boil.

Boil for 3-5 minutes. Add sugar to taste. Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Serve.

Enjoy!
